Lake fly fishing in Krkonose

Water and place: Water reservoir on river Labe (Elbe)

Date of fishing: 10.05.2014

Weather and water conditions: sunny, air temperature +15 C, weak wind, water temperature +15 C.

Fishing method: fly fishing

Tackle and baits: pole 10 ft 7–8 AFTM, indermediate fly line with sinking leader, fluorocarbon tippet 0.20, flies: lake streamers

Catch in total: rainbow and brook trouts, perches

The biggest fish: brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) 2 pounds, 14 inches

Special features of a fishing day: Walking through the dam, we’ve seen some lake trouts swimming close to the surface, which were grabing the fallen insects and perhaps pollen, driven by the wind. Andrew (my client) threw a coin into the water, making a splash among fish, which attacked this coin in one second! So, I am going to make a lure in denominations of one crown 🙂
