February fishing on Jakub Vagner’s lake

Water and place: small lake Zahradka, which belongs to Jakub Vagner

Weather and water conditions: partly cloudy, temperature +5 C, weak variable wind, water temperature +3 C.

Fishing method: carp fishing method

Tackle and baits: feeder rod Okuma 13ft, fishing line 0.35, the bait: a piece of fish

Catch in total: siberian sturgeon, russian sturgeon, northern pike

The biggest fish: pike (Esox lucius) 18 pounds

Special features of a fishing day: In the morning the pond was covered with solid ice crust almost a half centimeter thick, which we had split by boat before start fishing. In the afternoon the sun has rised and warmed up the surface. Sturgeon took our bates flawlessly, and we’ve caught also a few slow-moving winter pikes.
