Trout fishing among rafts

Fishing with spinning for trout

Water and place: river Otava in South Bohemia

Date of fishing: 21.08.2016

Weather and water conditions: sunny hot weather, the air temperature +15 C in the morning , during the day then up to +32 C, the water temperature +18 C

Fishing method: spinning & tenkara

Tackle and baits: trout spinning with braided line, small spinners and woblers; wet tenkara flies kebari

Catch in total: brook and brown trouts, approx. 30 fish in total

The biggest fish: over 1,5 pound brown trout

Special features of a fishing day: The morning was quite cold and after raining during whole last night the activity of fish was high. The river met us with muddy water and light fog. Brown and brook trouts were continuing to take our baits until a first canoes appeared, which frightened our fish. Generally speaking spring and autumn are the best for fishing in trout rivers during whole day, but in the summertime all big trout rivers in Czech republic except Ohre are full of canoes and rafts, so safe fishing is possible before 10 am and after 5 pm. Despite of this fact, we were lucky to catch a few decent trouts on wobblers and spinners. Wet flies as kebari were great rather for small brown trouts this time. Clients: Krasimira and Dimitro, Bulgaria
